Bank Account

Only clubs that own a club bank account are eligible to receive SFUO subsidies.
Clubs require the following documentation to set up a bank account:

  • A record that confirms the existence of the Club (a bank letter signed by the VP Student Affairs)
  • Two pieces of identification for any signing authorities on the account (see signing officers on Form C)
  • A hard copy of the Club’s constitution

Please note: To obtain a Bank letter, each Club must submit a request to the Clubs Coordinator at clubs@sfuo.ca. The request must include the name of the club, contact information for the club, and most importantly the signing officers’ names (2) and their executive positions.

You may choose any recognized bank establishment.

HSBC offers a great account for clubs and associations:

The Community Service Account is a daily interest statement account offered at no charge to low volume, non-profit community associations, service clubs or charities. With this account, activity charges for deposits, cheques and withdrawals are free. Also, there is no monthly administration fee and no minimum balance is required.
