Welcome!

The Student Appeal Centre is a free service provided by the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO). We offer help and support to students who wish to appeal decisions made by the administration of the University of Ottawa. We also assist and guide students who wish to file a complaint against or to receive assistance in dealing with the University of Ottawa.

Since the appeal process can be long and complicated, we act as a resource for students in need of help and support.

We listen to students.
We explain the university policies and/or regulations that apply to a case.
We provide advice on how to best handle a situation.
We research regulation and university policies.
We give tips and advice on building a case and writing letters of appeals.
We review all the documentation provided within your appeal.
We represent students and advocate in their name.
We act to improve and change administrative procedures and regulations.
We lobby the administration for student rights.

An appeal can be based on:

  1. accusation of academic fraud
  2. grade reviews
  3. withdrawal from a faculty or a program
  4. probationary status
  5. admissions into a program
  6. scholarships and bursaries
  7. your transcript
  8. exam deferrals
  9. financial services and reimbursements
  10. problems with a professor
  11. any other administrative issue: co-op, housing, etc.

The Student Appeal Centre is a safe space and is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
