Overview

The Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) is a service of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa (SFUO), which also serves the graduate student population, thanks to a graduate student levy collected by the Graduate Students Association (GSAED). This service is available to students with physical, visual, hearing, learning, and psychiatric or mental disabilities, and those who wish to make our community more accessible for them.

Our service differs from Access Services, which provides academic services to the student body. The CSD focuses on the university community and the accessibility of our community and social activities. We strive to promote the independence and inclusion of students with disabilities in the university community, to assist in advocacy and awareness campaigns, to seek to create an atmosphere of exchange and experience-sharing and to establish a space where individuals and groups can voice their concerns about this community within a community.

This work is accomplished by a hard working part-time staff of students of varying abilities, and the precious help of volunteers.
