Services

  • Food Hamper

Our main service is the emergency food hamper which is available to any member of the University of Ottawa community who wishes to access our service. The hamper contains three days worth of perishable and non-perishable food items. This is available once a month to help supplement your groceries! As a member agency of the Ottawa Food Bank, most of our food comes in regular deliveries from them.
  • Good Food Box

The Good Food Box program is a community initiative by the Centretown Community Health Centre to provide affordable fruits and vegetables from local farmers to urban centers. You can order online at the link provided (http://www.ottawagoodfoodbox.ca/?page_id=28&lang=en), or you can stop by the Food Bank and order in person. We offer 5$ fruit bags, 10$, 15$ and 20$ boxes containing an assortment of seasonal fruits and vegetables, and 25$ boxes containing all organic fruits and vegetables.
  • Recycling

We recycle cell phones, ink cartridges, egg cartons, and plastic bags. The egg cartons and plastic bags are reused at the food bank, while the ink cartridges and cell phones are passed onto the Ottawa Food Bank who recycles them for money that helps keep the Ottawa Food Bank, and by extension our Food Bank, well stocked.
  • Free Store

The Food Bank has a variety of clothing, books and water bottles in our Free store. Come see if there is anything here for you!
  • Breakfast Club

Every second Thursday, from 8AM to 10:30AM we offer breakfast food options: toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes, muffins, coffee, tea, etc. outside the SFUO main office in the UCU. On occasion the location changes to keep a look out for announcements! We encourage everyone to bring their own plates and cutlery. WE often pair up with other services to offer lots of good stuff!
